I recently received a request from an engineering firm for an interpretation of NFPA-30 4.3.2.3.3(1) for the installation of 2-10,000 gallon above ground double wall tanks encased inside a typical UL-142 double wall designed secondary containment tank in first whether or not this could be done, and also whether or not the double wall designed outer tank would suffice for a monitored intertice between the outer and inner walls. My concern is with NFPA-30 4.3.2.3.3(6) in spacing (3 foot) that is required between any two separate tanks. If a steel plate is installed inside the tank separating the two inner tanks, does this supercede this code? Any help is greatly appreciated.
