FAQ's on explosives

The following is being offered as an aid to anyone who may find value in having such information on explosives.

By clicking on or going to the following site within the State Fire Marshal's Office web page (http://www.dhcd.virginia.gov/State_Fire_Marshal/Explosives.htm)  you'll find some pdf documents that homeowners or local fire officials may find usefull.

The link for "local fire official" found in the narrative will reveal a listing of localities that have their own fire officials and their contact information. Presently the information is outdated and will be replaced within the next two weeks. The replacement posting will be qualified by a statement saying it is subject to change at all times without notice but it will be more current and accurate than the present posting.

Looking under "General Information" will reveal 4 documents providing some rudimentary information on the use of explosives and some direction in the event a building owner feels their property is being damaged by the use of explosives. These items are general in nature and are not intended to replace or supplant anything a local fire official may have in place or may require. As you can read, they are written principally for the benefit of property owners within areas where the SFPC is enforced by the SFMO but local fire officials may also find some value in these documents.

Under "Publications" is an extract copy of the SFPC as it relates to explosives and fireworks. Please read the IMPORTANT NOTICE noting this document is an "extract" and does not contain ALL provisions of the code.
