Everything we have read so far says that it should be done "periodically". What does this actually mean to everyone? 6 months, 1 year, 2 years.....Spoke with a rep. from a large mechanical/control co. and he couldn't clarify either. Can you help answer this one?
NFPA 72 section 7-3.2.1 requires detector sensitivity to be checked within 1 year after installation and every other year thereafter. NFPA 72 section 7-4.2 states that the frequency of maintenance and testing shall be predicated on ambient conditions in which the detector is located. Bear in mind most newer FACPs automatically monitor detectors for contamination and calibration.
