Has anyone had any dealings with fire alarm systems that are using cable tv phone lines? They are phone lines they run through your cable tv via a modem. We have a cable conmpany that is selling this service. One alarm company is refusing to use this means on communication. If anyone has dealt with this issue please let me know how you handled this.
VUSBC 2000/ICC Building Code 2000 Section 901.6.2 requires an approved supervising station.
This may be covered under NFPA 72, Other Transmission Technologies, but what AHJ would approve it. I'd want to know that it was going to a qualified Central Station and met all other requirements of supervising station fire alarm systems.
